Cycling the Eifel with Just a Kit Lens
During the autumn break, I decided to take a short cycling trip through the Eifel region in Germany and Belgium, starting in Heerlen, in the south of the Netherlands. With plans to sleep in a tent, I had to pack incredibly light—everything I needed had to fit into two pannier bags on the back of the bike and a small bag on the handlebar.
Of course, my camera had to come along! It had to fit in the front bag for quick access, but space was tight since I also needed to pack other essentials in that small bag. This meant a big lens was out of the question. I debated between my compact 17mm f/1.8 and the 14-42mm pancake kit lens. In the end, I chose the pancake lens for its zoom versatility, and I didn’t regret it for a second!
Below are some of the shots I captured during this 3-day adventure.
